    Meeting - May 22nd, 2007

    Don’t Miss the MonoRail!

If you’ve heard the hype about testing and wondered how to design your own applications with testing in mind from the beginning, or maybe you’ve heard people talking about inversion of control or the MVC design pattern and wondered what that might look like in a real web application, then you won’t want to miss this month’s session on MonoRails. Regardless of whether you’ll ever use MonoRails as a platform for development, the principles behind this open source project will help you design better applications and write better code. You won’t want to miss this session as JP Cummins demonstrates the usefulness of the MonoRails framework and in the process begins a dialogue regarding the principles behind this open source project.

    Telerik Controls Demonstration

Or maybe you’ve struggled to build web applications and wanted to make use of all the great new features of ASP.NET and AJAX but found that the controls are often limiting and difficult to use. If that’s you, then you can’t miss this week’s session on the Telerik suite of controls. Don Worthley will demonstrate the full set of features of the Telerik RadControls suite for ASP.NET by building a quick application using AJAX, showing a variety of demos on how to use the controls in different web application scenarios and showing a demonstration of a working application that uses the Telerik controls.

    Software Giveaways!

Oh yeah, and you won’t want to miss the raffle at the end for the following software (the real deal, not just the trial version!)

1 Retail copy of RadControls for ASP.NET Develoepr License + Subscription and Source code ($1,000 value).

1 Retail copy of SpeedTrace Pro is 3.0 ($200 value)

    Socialize

I know, sometimes that’s hard for developers, but think of it as geeking out. One of our goals at the SGFUG is to develop community, and that’s why we’ll have pizza and soft drinks for the first 20 people who arrive; so plan to arrive a little early and stay a little late to get to know some of the other developers in the Springfield area.

    See you on Tuesday!
