This month's meeting will be Tuesday, July 27th from 6p to 7:30p at
The Library Center on S. Campbell.

Clint Edmonson from Microsoft will be presenting "Architecting
Applications the Microsoft Way". As usual, we will begin with 30
minutes of networking and start the presentation at 6:30.

Details

*Architecting Applications the Microsoft Way*
This session distills the best guidance from the Microsoft Patterns &
Practices group to provide a hands-on approach to designing
application architectures. Along the way, we’ll examine the key
decisions that must be made when choosing our architectural styles and
designing our layers and show how those decisions turn into a real
shippable code on a project.

Speaker Bio

Clint Edmonson is a Developer Evangelist in Microsoft’s North Central
District, working with aspiring and seasoned architects and developers
to understand Microsoft’s latest offerings and develop strategic
roadmaps for their adoption. He can be reached at http://www.notsotrivial.net.

Introduction to Debugging Tools
Process Monitor, Process Explorer, and Microsoft Network Monitor are three tools that every Windows developer or Support tech should have in their arsenal. This session will introduce you to all three tools, including a real-world example of tracking down a problem using Process Monitor. (Process Monitor incorporates the Filemon and Regmon tools from www.sysinternals.com.)

We'll be starting again on the fourth Tuesday of September with an exciting meeting that you won't want to miss.

But even though we won't be meeting during the summer months, the Google group is active all year round, so be sure to stay in touch!

October Meeting update

The October meeting will be held on October 23 at the Library Center. We
will be having our annual elections for officers. These are the people who
determine what topics are covered and help improve the user group. If you
are interested in serving or know someone you think would do a good job, we
will be open for nominations at the meeting.

We will also be having a presentation on Windows Communication Foundation
(WCF) and food provided by Tek Systems. Jennifer Taylor, their local
representative, will be giving an overview of the employment situation as
she sees it in Springfield.

If you aren't busy (or it's something you can put off, like mowing the lawn)
on October 19,20 you should be in Tulsa. I was at Tulsa TechFest last year
and it was great. They have enough sponsorship that it's free. They're
giving away computers and prizes galore. They have 16 tracks so your
problem will probably be that you can't see everything you want. It's only
a few hours away and the speakers are world class. Check it out at
tulsatechfest.com.

See you on the 23rd,

Jeff Corder
President
Springfield Dot Net User Group

October Meeting and Elections

The next Springfield.
If you happened to miss last week's meeting, don't worry! Don Worthley recorded his presentation, Telerik Controls Rock!, for your enjoyment. Don Worthley demonstrates the full set of features of the Telerik
RadControls suite for ASP.NET by building a quick application using
AJAX, showing a variety of demos on how to use the controls in
different web application scenarios and showing a demonstration of a
working application that uses the Telerik controls.
