  • July Meeting

This month's meeting will be Tuesday, July 27th from 6p to 7:30p at The Library Center on S. Campbell.

Clint Edmonson from Microsoft will be presenting "Architecting Applications the Microsoft Way". As usual, we will begin with 30 minutes of networking and start the presentation at 6:30.

    Details

*Architecting Applications the Microsoft Way* This session distills the best guidance from the Microsoft Patterns & Practices group to provide a hands-on approach to designing application architectures. Along the way, we’ll examine the key decisions that must be made when choosing our architectural styles and designing our layers and show how those decisions turn into a real shippable code on a project.

Clint Edmonson is a Developer Evangelist in Microsoft’s North Central District, working with aspiring and seasoned architects and developers to understand Microsoft’s latest offerings and develop strategic roadmaps for their adoption. He can be reached at http://www.notsotrivial.net.

    Speaker Bio:
Markus Pope Markus Pope is a really cool dude that has been programming for many years. He loves researching everything from hardcore math and physics to philosophy and theology. Software products that Markus has worked on include telecommunications software now owned by Symantec, web-based CRM software, and most recently document management, imaging, and workflow software for PaperWise. Over the years he’s written drivers, object models, scanning applications, programming languages, services, countless components and plug-ins, and a few books. He has a thirst for knowledge and a passion for sweet tea.
  • We're Back in Session

As noted above, we're excited to have our very own Chad Boschert presenting on WCF. You won't want to miss this chance to learn about WCF and hang out with other developers from Springfield and surrounding areas. The meeting starts at 6:00 pm in the Library Center on South Campbell (160 just south of the James River freeway). Hope to see you there!
  • SGFDotNet Breaks for the Summer

If you come to the Library Center on the fourth Tuesday of June, July or August, you'll have to settle for checking a few books on .NET out and reading them in the Mud House. We'll be starting again on the fourth Tuesday of September with an exciting meeting that you won't want to miss. But even though we won't be meeting during the summer months, the Google group is active all year round, so be sure to stay in touch!
  • October Meeting update

The October meeting will be held on October 23 at the Library Center.  We
will be having our annual elections for officers.  These are the people who
determine what topics are covered and help improve the user group.  If you
are interested in serving or know someone you think would do a good job, we
will be open for nominations at the meeting.

We will also be having a presentation on Windows Communication Foundation
(WCF) and food provided by Tek Systems.  Jennifer Taylor, their local
representative, will be giving an overview of the employment situation as
    she sees it in Springfield.

If you aren't busy (or it's something you can put off, like mowing the lawn)
on October 19,20 you should be in Tulsa.  I was at Tulsa TechFest last year
and it was great.  They have enough sponsorship that it's free.  They're
giving away computers and prizes galore.  They have 16 tracks so your
problem will probably be that you can't see everything you want.  It's only
a few hours away and the speakers are world class.  Check it out at
    tulsatechfest.com.

    See you on the 23rd,

    Jeff Corder

If you happened to miss last week's meeting, don't worry!  Don Worthley recorded his presentation, Telerik Controls Rock!, for your enjoyment.  Don Worthley demonstrates the full set of features of the Telerik RadControls suite for ASP.NET by building a quick application using AJAX, showing a variety of demos on how to use the controls in different web application scenarios and showing a demonstration of a working application that uses the Telerik controls.
